If you have many accessories, you will definitely own some trendy faux pieces. I have a lot of fake jewellery and I have learned several ways to care for them over the years and I’d like to share them with you, girls. Here are 7 ways to care for fake jewellery.
1. Store your jewellery the right way
Exposure to air encourages fading and discoloration! That’s why it’s so important to store your jewellery the right way. Store your fake jewellery in a lined jewellery box, and avoid mixing different colored metals. Try to keep gold items together and silver items together so they do not rub off on each other.
2. Don’t get your jewellery wet
Getting fake jewellery wet is very harmful, so anytime you bathe, shower, wash your hands, wash dishes, or go swimming, take off your jewellery. Getting it wet from time to time is okay, but don’t get your jewellery wet over time, because water can cause discoloration and rust, especially if there’s a soap scum left on your jewellery pieces.
3. Put your jewellery on last
Another way to care for fake jewellery is to put it on last. Hairspray and perfume can be absolutely harmful to fake jewellery, so don’t spray yourself with them while wearing your fake jewellery. Wear the jewellery after you’ve already applied your perfume or hairspray!
4. Don’t work out in jewellery
Before you go the gym, take off any jewellery, fake or not. Besides, it’s much easier to exercise without anything getting in your way, right? And sweat buildup on jewellery is very harmful to the stones. Sad to say, but I’ve lost my favorite ring because of sweaty fingers!
